Marty Supreme (2025)

Marty Supreme is a high intensity level film that tells you to reach for the stars, do whatever it takes to get to the highest level you can possibly get too and DREAM BIG. A story of Marty Mauser who doesn’t think about others, is a con artist and does anything in his power to get what he wants when he wants. I loved how on edge I was throughout this whole film, seeing him put people in danger, showing some tremendous levels of confidence and swagger, while knowing exactly what he’s doing and not having a care in the world until he has to eventually step up.

The is THE Timothee Chalamet performance and in my eyes he should definitely win the Oscar for this acting piece. He is on a different level and is Offical White Boy of the Year. This film and performance embodies the run he is currently on in confirming his place as one of the highest level actors in the game currently. He empowers the charismatic and narcissistic Mauser so accurately. He can embody all this but still show emotion and vulnerability in the end, to capture the growth of his character. It’s always hard when you root for a character who is purely just a narssasitic evil person who only thinks for himself, yet you just can’t help but love every bit of Marty with all the charisma Timothee brings to the role. All this for me solidifies Chalamet and this being the best performance of 2025

Josh Safdie has created a stylish and hectic film which blends together nicely in this. The frantic camera work lets us get a glimpse of how Marty Mauser’s mind works and how chaotic his life really was. The aesthetic was really fantastic, capturing the time period perfectly and created the style of the costumes and sets to blend nicely. The cinematography was affective and highlights Safdie as being on top of his game and telling the audience that he is the most underrated side of the brothers who previously created Uncut Gems and Good time. He shoots this film with unpredictability and keeping the camera moving and switching shots to keep us on our toes and constantly keeping us feel exhilarated just like the life of Mauser. The score for Marty Supreme is mixed perfectly with Safdie’s work, keeping the pulse alive with quick sounds and music, as well as the best start and end credit music of the year.

The supporting cast includes one of the better ensembles of the year also. Gweneth Paltrow shows off her ability away from marvel movies, and plants herself in one of her more raunchy and serious roles of her career. Odessa A’zion allows us to feel close to her character and makes us feel so deeply for her desperation and pain she is going through, giving a performance I would include in the conversation for best supporting actress. Most surprisingly Shark Tank’s Kevin O’leary gives a powerful and harsh performance, basically playing himself, as that’s exactly what his character is, and it shows that it pays off extremely well knowing exactly who to cast.

The only reason it’s not a 10/10 for me was because of the slight and I mean SLIGHT pacing issues for me, just as it was picking up the pace it would slow down, while still being incredible, it would still take you out of it for a moment.

Verdict: Marty Supreme is a thrilling cinematic experience that makes you sit right on the edge of your seat the whole way through, yet you can’t take your eyes away from the screen. It’s an emotional, powerful and a important story driven film that will make you feel inspired and will make you DREAM BIG.
